Chehre Review Amitabh Bachchan, Emraan Hashmi, Rhea Chakraborty Starrer Film Here Know About Film
the director: Rumi Jaffrey
Artist: Amitabh Bachchan, Emraan Hashmi, Annu Kapoor, Raghubir Yadav, Rhea Chakraborty and Krystle D’Souza
After ‘Bellbottom’, another big starcast film ‘Chehre’ has been released in theatres. The film stars Amitabh Bachchan along with Emraan Hashmi, Annu Kapoor and Rhea Chakraborty in the lead roles. The film may look good in the script but when it hits the screen, it looks disappointing. Rumi Jaffrey’s directorial ‘Chehre’ has fallen victim to poor writing. The cast of the film has started well but soon proves to be ineffective from story to acting.
role of actors
Delhi-based ad agency chief Sameer Mehra (Emraan Hashmi) gets caught in a storm. Four retired court officials invite him for a night in the deserted house. Amitabh Bachchan plays Latif Zaidi, an eccentric public prosecutor. Anu Kapoor as defense lawyer Paramjit Singh, Dhritman Chatterjee as judge Jagdish Acharya and Raghubir Yadav as over-enthusiastic prosecutor Hariya Jatav.
what is the story
Together, the four characters conduct a mock trial of a criminal case in what they call the ‘Asli Khel’, where justice is not the only verdict. It lasts for around 2 hours and 20 minutes. Sameer is tried for the murder of his boss. To say that ‘Chehre’ is a thriller film but it fails to create thrill. The film has been shot with many twists but the things that are about to happen are already predicted. Writer Ranjit Kapoor’s story shows a severe lack of coordination at many places. When the story starts to feel exciting, it gets so dragged that it loses its momentum. The film could have been shortened by making editing and tight.
The heavy dialogues have been written by Rumi and Ranjit together. A lot of poetry is also heard. Although many one liners manage to laugh. Amitabh Bachchan has a seven-minute long monologue. He speaks on Nirbhaya rape case, plight of acid attack victims, Uri surgical attack and Indo-Pak tension, which sounds very superficial.
why watch the movie
‘Chehre’ cannot be called a courtroom drama thriller film. Yes it is definitely that Rumi Jaffrey has definitely tried to do something out of her comfort zone. If you are a fan of Amitabh Bachchan and Emraan Hashmi then you can watch this movie.
